India’s 31st handicrafts and gifts fair brought the products of 23,000 exhibitors to the attention of over 6,500 buyers from over 30 countries around the world.
NEW DELHI, India – The 31st Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair took place in February of this year and saw over 2300 exhibitors from all over India showcase a range of products.
The 97,000-square-meter India Expo Centre & Mart hosted over 6,500 buyers from 31 countries during the four-day fair, according to a press release from the fair. “Total business generated” during the fair was $190 million, according to IHGF.
The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, the fair organizers sponsored by the Indian government, targeted a number of countries for aggressive brand marketing of Indian handicrafts and hosted a number of such delegates. These countries in attendance perceived to have markets receptive to Indian handicrafts included Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Botswana and Namibia.
The fair presented a wide range of products in the following categories:
• Houseware, Decorative & Gifts
• Home Textiles, Furnishings & Floor Coverings
• Furniture & Home Accessories
• Cane, Bamboo & Eco-Friendly Products
• Christmas Decorations, Candles & Incense Sticks
• Fashion Jewellery, Accessories & Bags
The fall IHGF 2011 will be held Oct. 15-18, at India Expo Centre & Mart, Delhi – Greater Noida Expressway.
