The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship and The Jubilant Bhartia Foundation yesterday announced the finalists of the India Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2012. The finalists are:
The winner will be announced on November 6, 2012, in New Delhi. The ceremony will coincide with the World Economic Forum on India.
Each of these organisations are scaling or replicating their ideas across India and in other countries.
All three finalists are actively shaping value chains and ecosystems to enable last-mile access to primary healthcare via technology like NCPL, markets via entrepreneurship like Udyogini, and material resources through community participation (i.e. Goonj).
Shyam S Bhartia, Chairman & Managing Director and Hari S Bhartia, Co Chairman & Managing Director Jubilant Life Sciences and Founder Directors of Jubilant Bhartia Foundation, said “Organisations like Goonj, NCPL and Udyogini are demonstrating the possibilities of creating significant change, by optimising the limited resources and managing infrastructural challenges of remote districts of India”.
Applications to the India SEOY Awards 2012 opened in April with 182 being applications received, Five applicants were selected for detailed due diligence with three shortlisted for the finals.
