‘Livelihood’ is defined as the set of activities performed through one’s life span, involving the ability to secure water, food, medicine, shelter, clothing and the capacity to acquire such basic necessities working either as an individual or as a group such that households may be operated on a sustainable basis, with dignity.

Investing in income-generating activities has been a priority area for Artha since inception, and has manifested in our investment portfolio in a number of ways including the employment of individuals from under-served communities, as well as the provision of services or products to such communities such that their ability to earn is materially enhanced.
