Artha Platform welcomes applications from high impact Social Enterprises based in India.

We are looking for early stage enterprises that deliver social impact for the Base of the Pyramid (BoP) at scale.

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

Prerequisites Your venture must deliver social impact targeting beneficiaries at the BoP in India.

Artha funding likely cannot be committed in the absence of matching investment.

Artha will lead or invest alongside a consortium of investors. AVC must lead or be involved in all material discussions including valuation and other key terms of the transaction.

Your venture must be at least one year old.

You are in need of early stage capital of up to approximately $300K (USD) to develop your venture.

Sectors and Sub-sectors Your venture must be active in at least one of the sectors listed below.

Are you creating an innovative solution around irrigation, farm mechanization or precision farming in agriculture?

Sector: Agriculture

Sub-sectors:

  • Irrigation
  • Farm Mechanization
  • Precision Farming
  • Agriculture – Energy Nexus

Are you increasing access, improving quality or reducing cost in healthcare through innovative delivery or devices?

Sector: Healthcare

Sub-sectors:

Will your product or service directly impact student learning levels or increase employability and monthly household incomes (in the skill training segment)?

Sector: Education

Sub-sectors:

Are you increasing energy access or access to clean water for low income households with your product or service?

Sector: Energy

Sub-sectors:

  • Access to clean Water
  • Energy access

Exceptional innovation and models in other sectors will be considered upon Artha’s discretion.

Stage Enterprises should have carried out some pilot or testing work and have achieved a few paying customers before applying. You must have demonstrated proof of concept with at least a pilot.

The AVC runs on a rolling basis and is open to applicants all year long.

According to our experience in the past years, we expect a high number of applicants. Your application will be assessed according to the following selection criteria. Please note that we can only consider application that meet or exceed the criteria.

In order to be eligible to apply for the Artha Venture Challenge you must meet the following criteria. If you do not meet these criteria, your application will not be considered eligible.

Your venture tackles a clearly identified social problem with a scalable and disruptive solution.

The Performance

There is clear evidence of market demand for your product or service demonstrated by performance data from at least a pilot or proof of concept.

The People

The lead entrepreneur can demonstrate the right attitude, commitment and ambition to grow the venture to scale.

The team, supporters and partners provide a diverse range of relevant skills and experience.

The Plan

The business growth model can significantly scale up social and / or environmental impact at the Base of the Pyramid in India.
